Glaugust 2026: Non-Lovecraftian cosmic horror

So today's Glaugust prompt is from Semiurge, "Non-Lovecraftian cosmic horror". Hey I just did that like four blogposts ago or something! Well that's fine, I'll do it again. Here's an encounter, slot it in somewhere or use it as a short oneshot with whatever rules and setting you want.

I feel like this is implying that Weezer is a one-hit wonder and like they're totally not.

Just Like Him - GLOG Encounter Edition

Room 1:

You find yourselves in a room. Perhaps you woke up there after falling asleep to the radio. Perhaps you fell victim to a pitfall trap in a strange dungeon. In any case, you now find yourselves in a room, the brightly lit interior of a diner. The walls are covered in wood paneling and triangular school flags. Streamers and balloons hang from the ceiling. Three cameras point to a small, carpeted stage set up in front of the kitchen where a single figure stands. A man in his 50s wearing a tan, ill-fitting cardigan, silently holding an electric guitar, staring into space, bearing a slight smile with no chance of reaching his eyes. The man in this room responds to your actions falteringly, extremely distraught. He knows he is here to record a music video with his band, Weezer. He does not know where everyone else is. He does not know what his name is. He is too distracted to answer any question with much certainty.

He is trying to remember how the song goes, the one the music video is for. He does not know what the song is. He keeps saying that this is their big hit, so he can't mess this up.

He thinks the way out is probably through the door.

If you tell him the name of the song, he will steel his nerves and begin rehearsing it quietly to himself.

There are two doors in this room: one metal door with a circular window in it leading to the kitchen (Room 2), and a wooden bathroom door labeled "Guys" (Room 4).

Room 2:

He doesn't think the way out is through the door. He doesn't think there is a way out, but it doesn't seem to bother him much.

He does not know his own name, but he knows he's here to record a music video with his band, Weezer. He knows the song is called Buddy Holly. He's certain that everyone else will be here soon.

He's certain the way out is through the door.

There is no apparent way out of these four rooms. There are no windows. Tunneling through any wall simply breaks into another of the rooms. Any damage to the rooms or to Rivers Cuomo seemingly undoes itself while you aren't looking. Telling Rivers Cuomo his name has little effect, as he will forget it almost instantly.
