GLOGtober 2024-4 Feuding Poets and their Ruinous Verses

So I hope these rules are fun, but I'm not sure I'd ever actually use it myself. Maybe. Who knows. Prompt by https://mediumsandmessages.bearblog.dev/

Today: Feuding Poets and their Ruinous Verses

When two characters have a disagreement that cannot be reconciled any other way, it's time for a rap duel. Here's some rules for that.

Lin-Manuel Miranda eat your heart out.

Lyrics:

Step one: Set the stakes!
Choose what the loser will lose, say what the winner takes.
Careful what you pray, cause when it's done this can't be erased.

Step two: Now you gotta decide!
Who's going first and who's gotta wait in line.
Roll dice, flip coins, it's fine! Everyone'll get a turn in time.

Step three: The first verse of the show.
You got 60 seconds, write your lyrical ammo.
Now, it's gotta hurt, and it's gotta flow, and since you're going first there are some things you should know:

When you rap your verse, the whole table decides
Whether or not your lyrics are fly.
If you pass the test, don't stress, the words you write
Do 1 to 6 damage, figure it out on some dice

But if you seem unwise to the wisdom of crowds
(And majority rule runs this here town)
Then sorry, not sorry, you missed this round.
Pass the mic, let your rival make some sound.

Step four: Somebody's fired off an attack
And I know the other body's gonna wanna hit back
But a counter is best if you don't want to crack
So use the next 60 seconds writing a comeback

Now every new verse has gotta fit with the old.
So check with the table, make sure they're sold.
If your defense goes and gets the gold?
Then you take three less damage than they rolled.

Once you've gone and did all that done,
It's your turn to take your spot in the sun.
Write your attack, make it burn, make it stun,
And just keep on going til someone's health's below one.

Now one last bit and one bit for last,
Your character's probably got a background and class.
When you reference either duelist's class or backround to harass,
You deal a point of damage to the enemy jackass.
